St George’s has a vibrant Christian tradition, although we welcome girls from many faiths and backgrounds.
All girls attend a weekly service at our on-site Chapel, which is a chance for the whole school community to come together with music provided by our Chapel Choir. We regularly invite speakers of other faiths and world views to talk to our pupils. Chapel services range from traditional Choral Communion to more informal Morning Worship. Each term we hold two or three Sunday evening services of readings, music and prayers, led by the Chapel Choir.
The Reverend Sami Watts is the school chaplain and has an open door policy for any girl who may wish to see her. She is also keen to help those of other religious traditions who want to explore and develop their faith. The Chapel, located at the heart of the school, is open for pupils to use at any time and we provide opportunities for prayer and reflection.
Preparation for Anglican Confirmation is available to girls from the Third Year upwards and each year the Bishop visits the school to celebrate confirmation with our community. The Chaplain runs preparation sessions for the confirmations, as well as other after school clubs.
