St George’s is proud to announce that our U14 netball team has won the prestigious Plate at the 2024 Girls' Schools Association (GSA) Netball Tournament, triumphing in the face of challenging conditions during the intensive two-day event.
Held at the scenic Condover Hall in Shrewsbury, the tournament brought together teams from across the country, providing a thrilling weekend of competitive netball, coaching, and team building activities. Despite encountering injuries and highly physical matches, our talented team demonstrated exceptional versatility and resilience.
Among the weekend's highlights were a win against Manchester High School and a hard-fought draw against St Paul’s School, both of which showcased the grit and determination of our players. After rain stopped play on Sunday, points and goals were tallied from the first day of competition, the U14s were awarded the coveted Plate title.
The GSA Netball Tournament is renowned for offering year 8 and 9 girls not only the chance to shine as individuals but also the opportunity to grow as a cohesive team. Over the weekend, participants benefited from tips and guidance from elite netballers. In addition to top-level coaching and closely-matched fixtures, the girls enjoyed team-building activities and evening entertainment, making the event both competitive and fun.
We are incredibly proud of our U14 team for their outstanding performance and teamwork throughout the tournament. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and everyone involved in this wonderful achievement!
