Maths trip to UCL, London

Academic Trips

On Monday 16 November, Sixth Form Mathematicians made their way to Logan Hall at UCL in London for a day of ‘Maths in Action.’ They saw a range of lectures exploring and illuminating Mathematics beyond the classroom. The girls’ first lecture was on Fermat’s Last Theorem, given by Dr Simon Singh, who has previously given talks at St George’s. The girls then heard a talk on the very relevant field of data science, followed by talks on ‘p-adic numbers’, ‘the joy of stats’ and patterns and time in space. The girls enjoyed exploring outside their normal understanding of what ‘maths’ is, and a huge thank you goes to Mr Wilson for taking them on such an inspiring trip.
