James Gibbons has taught at Eton College since 2002 in the Modern Languages and History departments. He is currently a Senior House Master, (appointed 2010), a member of Eton’s Academic Development Committee and Master in Charge of the School Canteen. In 2005 he was commissioned by Cambridge International Examinations to design the Modern Languages Pre-U Examination and he has wide examining experience. Before working at Eton, he lectured in German at Worcester and Pembroke Colleges, Oxford University, taking the post of Sub Dean at Worcester, where he completed his Doctorate in German Literature. He also taught at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith and L’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, Paris.

James is the Chairman of our Education Committee.
