Sports colours are awarded at the end of the year during the annual Sports Awards Evening held on the last Friday of the summer term. Guest speakers in the past have included Sky Sports Presenter, Kirsty Gallagher, Olympic Badminton Silver Medallist, Gail Emms and Sophia Candappa, England Netball Player.
Colours are awarded for netball, lacrosse, rounders, tennis, polo, swimming and athletics and awards are also given for dance. They are awarded to girls who have a positive attitude towards sport, a full commitment to their team, a high standard of play or vast improvement and a respect to both their peers and coaches.
There are three major awards: Outstanding Leadership on the Field, the Sport Community Award and the Services to Sport Award which are extremely prestigious and only awarded to those who have shown extreme dedication, ability and sportsmanship.
In addition, one Sixth Form girl is given the honour each year of becoming Sports Captain. This is a very responsible role as the Sports Captain runs tournaments, officiates, organises practices for younger pupils and announces the sports results in Chapel on a weekly basis.
