St George’s has won the Tatler, Best School Food for Independent Schools in the UK Award, and there is no doubt the food is spectacular and for many a real highlight of the school day! Wherever possible food is locally sourced and is a combination of healthy options with beautiful salads, a real variety in the deli and fruit bars, homemade puddings and traditional family favourites and international cuisine – nutritional food designed to give the girls plenty of energy and make their brains work effectively.
Menus are on a three week cycle for breakfast, lunch and supper and there are both morning and afternoon breaks with a large fruit platter available all day long. There are actually five chefs at St George’s and the standard is always high in both presentation and quality. Girls with special diets are catered for and there is a school food council which meets termly to discuss new options and special occasion food for house dinners, Head Girl lunches and parties.
One of the busiest departments in the school, the catering department also cooks on site for parents evenings, open days, match teas, concerts and socials. Everyone who visits comments on the variety and quality and if you are ever invited to an event at St George’s, whether a full sit down meal, drinks evening or buffet, you can be assured that the food you eat is just as good for your daughters every day of the week.
