Parents at St George’s are very much part of our community, and we warmly welcome their support. St George’s is like an extended family and it is vital that we work together to help all the pupils in the school gain as much as possible from their experiences.
Every term there are many events and occasions to which parents are invited into school. These include amongst others: parents meetings, information evenings, Headmistress’s lectures, plays, concerts, matches, House parties, enrichment talks and services. Many of the occasions incorporate our award winning food and are very popular occasions for parents to come and meet each other, talk to staff and other pupils and see the kinds of activities that the girls are involved with on a day to day basis.
The Headmistress holds a Parents’ Forum once a term with members of the Senior Management Team. These are discussion sessions over coffee where any points, relevant to the school community at large, can be put forward for discussion. In addition, parents are welcome to contact any member of staff at any time to raise individual concerns or to discuss pertinent issues. The normal first port of call would be your daughter’s tutor or Housemistress who has an in-depth knowledge of her day to day life.
Any initial anxieties we had around the transition from prep school quickly disappeared as we felt we were part of an extended family. (Parent of Third Year pupil)
